69 Firebird kickpanel install

Anybody have any tips to get the Riverside kick panel in place? The parking brake assembly is out of the way. I got in but have to pull it back out because I nocked the vent off the peg.

I'm hoping someone else chimes in because I've never found a good way to do this. It always deteriorates into screaming anger and cracking old plastic!

I thing it would be easier if the fuse box was taken off but I don't like messing with old wiring. I did get it back in place but its not easy.

you are right, takes twisting and bending with fuse box in the way. The fuse box can be moved slightly out of the way with its screws removed and wires all still connected.. but have to be very careful with 67 fuse blocks and their plastic snap on harnessess.

My passenger side did not make it in without a crack if it makes you feel better. I’m already over it.

I’d suggest warming it slightly with a hair dryer so it’s flexible other than that never put one back in myself so don’t have much advice. Was mostly here to see what others had to say

The passenger side was wicked easy, almost fell in but the driver was tuff to get in. didn't crack anything so that is good. New rugs are installed now and all the plastic is all screwed into place. The driver side kick panel is a new piece that I got from Ames and was happy with the quality of it.

I have my kick-panels off currently as I'm installing Vintage Air and also some sound deadening on floor and firewall and to add kick-panel speakers. Vintage Air instructions require the removal of the large fresh air vent insert to be cut off. As this is an original AC car, the vents weren't functional anyway so any reason I can't remove the driver's side vent insert as well to make install easier?

That would definitely make it easier to install, that was the area that gave me trouble. I trimmed mine just around the vent area to make it easier to install.

I had massive amounts of trouble with the driver's side kick panel as well. So much so that I opted to mask and paint the kickpanel while it was still in the car.
