Sport mirror mounting location

Could someone with factory sport mirrors please measure the mounting screw locations from the top of the door and the front of the door?
Thanks.

The originals came with a template when purchasing as a GM set or spare part, perhaps someone has that instead.

That would work too.

What year is this going on?

They are going on a 69.
I’m willing to move the driver side mount. There is no passenger side mount.

I’m thinking about mounting them with 10-24 riv-nuts and some type of internal bracing.

you have existing door mirror holes for standard mirror? Add a gasket with locating lug, mark the new holes.

That was my original plan. Then I read on these forums that the sport mirrors mount further back on the door. Some made the comment that when the sport mirrors are mounted in the chrome mirror location they look like they are “growing out of the a pillars”. So I started looking at pictures of ‘71 and ‘72 gto’s with sport mirrors and they do appear to be mounted further back.
I can just mount them anywhere but I would like to place them where they look like they fit the car properly. If someone could just loosen up one screw and remove their passenger side mirror to take a couple of measurements it would really help me out.

Headed out to shop, will measure from one of my doors.

The access hole for the remote mirror cable is centered 12 1/2" from the front edge of the door. That is on a level plane, measured 2 1/2" down from the window side of the outer window fuzzy. The access hole is 3/4" in diameter. I can take a pic showing the smaller mtg holes if you like & text it to you.

Last, the black plastic mtg pads for '71-72 Sport mirrors are different than 2nd Gen Bird which is different than 2nd Gen Camaro.

Thanks OPH. I think I can figure it out with those measurements.
I have the correct a body gaskets.
Thanks again!
