Data Plates - were screws ever used?

Were screws ever used by the factory to hold the data Plates to the cowls during these years?

Yes.

Well, learn something new every day.

Was this true of all the years '70-'81 or just some?

I've owned several '70-'73 cars and they were all riveted.

Was it a change in a particular year or was it a Norwood vs. Fremont thing, or ???

Thanks!

My saved pics of mainly 77-79 era show these two type of screw cap and rivets very early on.

In middle part of 1973 they started using screws instead of rivets. Not sure if they ever went back to rivets, seems most of the tags I have seen were still screwed on.
(then in 1982 they went to the SPID I think)

before reading John's post I was going to say that I was pretty confident that they were screwed in place for 1977, but unsure of earlier.

When I resto-modded my 76 T/A back in 90/91, my data plate had screws with a hex head and a Philips slot in them (well, that 'seems' like how they were to my old memory) to hold it in place.
