Chrome silver paint for Bezel touchup
Has anyone worked with the Inline tube chrome silver touch up paint? I’m thinking about touching up my dash bezel and wondering how well it will work. Just silver?

The best results I have gotten were with a product called Spaz-Stix...and it's cheap...

Greg, I am close to the point of painting my ‘64 Tempest dash . I will be painting the grey-bluei on the face of the dash and the chrome on the surrounding area. Can you tell me if you masked off the Spaz Stix to paint the other areas and did the tape affect the finish? I’m trying to decide which to paint first. The Spaz Stix or the dash blue.

The pens work ok for touch up depending on your taste. I used a silver leafing pen from Hobby Lobby to do a couple.
I have also use the Spaz Stix when doing a full resto and it is good stuff for a driver. Here is a pic of my 70’s bezel I touched up with the pen. |
^ that looks real good.

The spazz sticks looks pretty impressive. Thanks for the info Greg. Jon

If you look closely, you can see the masking tape on the panel I posted pics of. I did not want chrome peeking out of the edge of my woodgrain so I covered the previously-sprayed black on the edges with tape. On my particular panel, I wanted to preserve the distinctive '68-only blue inside the gauge pods so I masked them off as well. Again, looking closely you can see the tape inside the pods. All that to say, I would personally feel better about spraying the Spaz Stix last so that you don't have to pull masking tape off of it. It may be find though...I've never tried it. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&d=1541562615 http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&d=1541562628 http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&d=1541562695 |

Thanks for the response Greg. I think that makes good sense. I will spray the Spaz last. And hopefully I won't 'spaz out'! Lol

Ponchjoe, What did you do about your dash pad? Just Dashes is nice butt expensive.

That Inline Tube pen is Testor's model paint pen. It has the name right on it. I bought one and was not at all happy. No shine to it at all.

Thanks. Krylon makes chrome paint looks pretty nice.

None of the so-called chrome paint looks anything like chrome in my experience with the exception of 'Killer Chrome' from Alsacorp and the 'Spaz Stix' chrome paint. The Alsa is about 5 times the cost of the Spaz Stix and I got the same results.
Even those aren't 100% like chrome and can take a couple of tries to get right but they are very close. If you spray it yourself, you can get enough of the Spaz Stix to do several dashes for less than 10 bucks! http://www.activepowersports.com/spa...hoC0rgQAvD_BwE |
For the fine line work on dash parts, radio bezels, a/c outlets and the like I use a silver leafing pen from michaels. It is not a shiny chrome look but was pretty easy to use and it does look good as a finished piece.

I was looking at a model car group,, they use a pen called Molotow liquid chrome. It’s available indifferent sizes. Search it or YouTube it. I was going to try it on an old model I had and maybe my dash if it turns out right.
