1970 grand prix power locks

If you got power door locks did you automatically get power seat back releases?

I think that you still had to order the releases separately even though the wiring came along with the lock harness.

I think they were a combined option.

I'm pretty sure that the electric door locks got the seatback locks automatically.

I've got a buddy with a 4-speed 1970 GP that has them as an option - I'll see if he has PHS.

Power seat back release were a separate option from power locks but you had to order power locks to be able to order the seat release. Power locks alone is code AU3 at $45.29 (for 2 doors) and door locks with seat back release is code A93 at $68.46.

Interestingly if you ordered either of those but not power windows you'd get a power lock switch mounted on the upper door panel rather than in the armrest extension plate (which was not obviously possible with a window crank there).

Ah ...interesting info North. The 71 4spd GP I just brought home in November is crank windows power door locks...very odd combo [emoji16]

The combination of roll up windows & pwr door/seat back locks was not that uncommon on '71's & 72's. Currently, finishing the parting of a '71 model J that is so equipped. Have parted several others that also lacked pwr windows, but had pwr door/seatback locks.

There was a percentage of people who wanted nothing to do with power windows because of fear of children hurting themselves or the idea of not being able to get out of the car after an accident or submerged under water.
