G'Day People,
So, I clicked on the AMES Performance link that is present on top of our Forum site and get the warning shown. Anybody know what's going on here. I have used Ames site in the past with no such issue. |

Not sure, I got a white warning, I like using a catalog myself.

Being in Australia I rely on being able use their website to place my orders. |
I just tried the Ames site and had no problems, but I'll pass the information on to them.
|
I thought that the 'new site' has been in the works for awhile now. Maybe its finally becoming a reality. I get 98% of my stuff from Ames, and think they have great products and a great variety. However I cannot stand their website. I will pick through the catalogue then use that as a cross reference to place an online order. Not very user friendly, but it works. Other times I simply call and place an order.
|
Same here, I prefer a paper catalog then call in my orders.

I get the same warning, "The site is not safe/secured"
I placed an order last week and had to get onto the website through Google. I find that searching for the part by name is very frustrating, as you have to scroll through every item that has those words until you finally find what you are looking for. But I do like to support Ames when I can. |
Yer web bowser is just telling you that the traffic between yer computer and the server hosting their site is not encrypted. They either have a misconfiguration on their web server or their SSL certificate expired.
|
It seems to be something specific about the URL and the inclusion of "www" in the address. If you open a separate browser window and type in "amesperf.com" you'll get there. You may get a warning about it not being a secure site (using http instead of https) first.
|
It's because the link at the top of the page is using HTTPS. Get rid of the "S" and it works fine.

You gotta move over here, we have magazines, paper catalogs, can beat your cat with them, then use them as fire pit starters. Like the Classic catalog, I burn as soon as it comes. What ever happened to the Year one nice thick catalog? I figured they’d be all over the turd Gen cars.
Some old ones are keep sakes |
That's all the Year One catalog is worth... a fire starter in your wood stove. I wouldn't buy from them if they paid me to. Their prices were thru the roof before all of the crap started, and probably more so now.
Burd, that 1995 PY catalog is a collector's item. Prices must be great compared to now. |

Stuart, have them get the Webmaster to change the link to "https://secure.amesperf.com/" in the Responsive 2017 setting. |
You’ve got to watch out because when I was doing some coding (long ago) we learned how to copy a website and make it look exactly like the host site , you think your on it and you load all your info it works just like the host but your info is copied and stolen. If your vpn security or anti virus is stopping you it could just be a certificate issue or it could be a copied site . Had an insurance company have this happen they told everyone to just not worry about it. A month later they were apologizing for losing everyone’s info.
Best bet is to go around the link and type what your looking to access |
I to just tried to click on it and got that white warning that it may be fake.
