65 Bonneville Center Link

So I am looking for a center link for a 65 bonneville

All the usual suspects are out of stock kanter/old parts source/rare parts

Does anyone know where else I could find one. Its gonna be a couple of months before they restock. This has become my daily and I would like to keep it on the road.
Maybe someone here has one stashed they would like to sell?
Thanks!!!!
Clyde

Clyde, maybe able to help. Can you take some good pictures of your '65 Bonne's center link with a tape measure showing multiple views including the dimension between center to center where the inner tie rods attach? Have an NOS B series center link that's still in it's near 45-50 year old GM paper & plastic wrapper. The end of the package where the group number & part number were, the paper is weathered & i cant read the GM part number. Know for certain it's a 60's or early 70's big car item. Hauled the centerlink in years ago in a big load of NOS parts that came out of a Pontiac/Cadillac dealership in the mid 70's.

See if those links work. If not what is the best way to add images?

Clyde, thanks for posting the pics. Unfortunately the nos centerlink I have measures 17 1/2" center to center of the holes where the inner tie rods mount. Not sure what it is, years ago cked it against A-body center links I have & I thought I cked it against the original I had in prev '68 400 Bird Convert project... no dice fitting those. Regret can't help, wouldn't hurt to post a parts wanted ad in the '65-70 Pontiac B series parts section.

Will do. Thanks for checking

This is not an endorsement. But there are multiple listings for that center link on Ebay as a new part from Centric. That brand is mediocre IMO. Prices range from around $160.00-215.00. They act like they are in stock.

Have you tried Pontiac Paradise? Les has some B-body suspension and steering components. Some people on this forum have commented about him, but I've bought parts from him a few times and it's always been a good experience.

Also have you looked at RockAuto? I'm not a fan of the big parts stores as a lot of what they say fits our cars does not, but they have a surprising amount of parts for our Pontiacs. Rock Auto's website usually has a lot to choose from and is about the same price or cheaper than O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, etc.

Many, many moons ago, I took the center link off a junk 69 Firebird I had on hand, and put it on my 65 GP. It was an exact match EXCEPT it did not have an offset bend in the center to clear the oil pan sump that the fullsize cars require. As a result it would lightly rub front of pan sump at full left\right turns. Just a possible option.

As stated, they are almost the same as 69 firebird. The big car center link will work on both full size cars and 69 firebird, the 69 firebird center link will not clear the oil pan on the full size cars. The first photo is straight and is for 69 firebird, the 2nd is bent in the center to clear and will work on either.

Have you tried Rare Performance parts.. Also try Ram Air Resto, there into B bodys.. That center link will make a big difference in handling. I'd use the idler arm with the bearings along with it.. Also really beef up the frame where the idler arm attaches..

I just received a new '65 B-body center link from Ames last week. Didn't see them mentioned above.

Stuart- what does Ames want for these pieces?

63gpman 03-12-2021 12:46 AM

You can go right to their website and put in the part number or search by vehicle. Side note, that photo does not have the bend in it for the full size car. I would call and confirm if they have the bend or not.

The Ames site says $169.00 for the center link. You can look up parts at https://secure.amesperf.com, click on Parts Search in the upper left.
