I am restoring my '74 SD455 TA and need to remove the could springs. My problem is that with engine out and everything else off the front, when i put the jack under the lower a-arm to compress the spring (per GM shop manual) the frame lifts off the jackstand before the spring even tries to compress. I've tried every angle, but cannot get my could spring comressors on the spring. Any ideas?

TIA

Wrap a chain around the frame and hook it to your floor jack . That way when you jack up on the lower control arm , the frame can't move .
