Anybody here, put 79-81 fender flares and spoiler, on a 77 or 78?
 

Just wondering. Saw this picture, (if I can load it?). Looked good to me. I like the whole car!!!

I wanted a silver TA, when I bought mine. Glad that didn't happen. The silver paint on most makes of cars back then literally started going bad within a year of purchase.
I will NOT paint mine silver, this is just a cool 77 or 78 TA!!!

Interesting. I like it more than I thought I would. I'm glad they appear to have kept the earlier trunk lid spoilers - I never liked the '79-up style as much on those.

ive seen it done on cars, most likely the owner/shop didnt know there was a difference or used what they could find.

that silver car in the pic looks to have the new(er) year one bandit flares that dont use welting & pretty sure they are fiberglass vs the flexible material of the 79-81 factory flares. both types look good if you dont care about being year correct.

I didn't realize that about the year one flares. That's one thing I always appreciated about the '79-up over the earlier ones; the more flexible poly vs the older abs that tended to crack when it hit something. Both of my fronts on my first '77 broke with heavy snow/ice accumulation. I didn't have that problem with any of my '79-81s, even though they saw snow, too.

I lost most of my front fires and the entire front spoiler a year or so after having bought my car (new).

It was at night about 0 degrees, I was at highway speed, on a highway I didn't often travel on....
A very LARGE dog runs out of the ditch directly in front of me, zero reaction time, no way I could have avoided hitting the dog. My dad gum car high centered overex him, pretty scary.
I pulled over to collect myself. Got out and looked back, knowing I would find pieces of the spoiler, which I looked under my car and found missing!!! I looked back, saw NOTHING. I went to next turn around, circled back. Found chunks of plastic, no pieces. There were NO large pieces left. Found several pieces that had the sheet metal nuts in them. With the bolts still intact, attached to a small piece of plastic. It was incredibly cold. As cars drove by at 60ish MPH, I could hear the sound Crunch-Crunch. As the drove over the tiny pieces of my spoiler remains..

So much for having a nifty new car.
I have bought some of that stuff used, for my primo reconstruction. Not many around.

I am still looking for better.

Does that front spoiler look like a 79-81 spoiler, or a 78 and earlier??? Expert eyes...

Can a 79-81 front spoiler be easily installed on a 77 or 78?
Pictures of parts are totally different...

pretty sure its a 79-81 center spoiler. when using the flush mount year one wheel flares they say to use the 79-81 style spoiler. also pretty sure it will mount to the 77-78 cars since the holes are there in the bottom of the core support.
