Do you know if the deck is thick enough to surface the O rings out and can the deck be wet?Tom
|
Hey Tom,
The aluminum plugs can be drilled out to convert them back to wet deck. The o-ring is a .041 stainless wire, the heads would most likely need to be milled .030 to .032 to remove the grooves. I can measure them at a few spots, but realistically Jim Robertson may be the best person to answer this question. |
Thanks

You may not need to get rid of o-ring grooves if gasket bore is small enough to cover them and not interfere with bore.
|
From my notes back in 2010/2011...deck thickness is .600" on Tom S's heads. Best of luck on the sale.

Tom S, .032" off the deck of the heads (with a measured .600" thick deck) is a non-issue as far as a "skim cut" on the heads. CCs in the combustion chamber would change by about 4-5 ccs so the compression ratio would go up some though, as you know.
Might actually help on a non boosted engine with improved compression ratio. Tom V. |
