Steve Ames has passed away.
For those that are on Facebook, there have been a few posts by Ames Performance and I think the GTOAA that Steve Ames is fighting for his life. Sounds very serious. Just wanted to let those here that are not on FB know. Keep him in your prayers. Thanks.

8 hrs · Our founder and a huge supporter of the hobby, Steve Ames, is currently fighting for his life. Steve has given so much to the Pontiac world, there is no way in telling where we would be without him. We ask that everyone keep him in your prayers during these trying times. |

Wow. Quite an operation he has built. Covid? How old is he?

He has done more for the Pontiac hobby than anyone else in my opinion. I met him at a swap meet in 1978 and we have been friends since then. |
Thanks for the link.

I've met Steve before when I was just starting out selling the Pontiac T Shirts in I believe 2008. I knew he had a bout with PMD/GM over trademark infringement, and asked him as he was walking through the show field what I should do, or if I was in fact I was infringing on the trademark. He took about 15 minutes out of his day to give me some very insightful information at the Schenectady NY/GTO show. I followed his advice to the letter, and it was great advice.
He didn't have to take the time to talk to me, but did just because I asked him some questions. Very nice man, and I'll never forget his kindness to a total stranger. I of course knew he was, but he didn't know me from Adam. I recently asked for prayers for my mother, and the people on PY responded overwhelmingly. I will return the favor for Steve. Prayers sent for a full recovery Lord, and comfort for all his family. It would be a shame to lose someone who has freely given back to this hobby, as he has. |
I met Steve ant Carlisle, PA in 1976.
Great Guy and a great friend. Hoping for a speedy recovery. |
