Looking for tips & tricks on drip rail and window molding installation 70 GTO
 

Hello,

Any tips on reinstalling the drip rail moldings? They are super thin and easy to dent, and I recall them being a PITA to remove many years ago. I tried my best to limit how much paint the actual drip rail received so that wouldn't cause problems. Would applying a small film of grease or WD40 help them roll on?

Also looking for advice on reinstalling the 4 molding pieces for the back window. Is there a certain piece I should start with, or an order to install them? Do I just snap a few of the retaining clips and get all 4 moldings mated and then finish locking them down or ???

I think the reproduction drip rails are thin enough you can put them on by hand.

As for the rear window I put all of the clips in, then assemble the trim as one piece and slowly work the trim into the clips.

window moldings should install very easy, all ive ever done on 2nd gen birds is use the palm of my hand & gently push right at the clips, it should click down with not much pressure.

removing them with the right tool can be scary but they usually pop right off once you learn how to use the tool at the right angle, some tools are better than others so dont buy a cheap one.

With the drip rail moldings, i sometimes open them up a little on the underside lip and them roll them on from top to bottom with a light tap of my fist to get them over the bottom edge. If they are loose, you can crimp/ tighten them the underside by pressing from underneath with a straight slot screw driver. Never used any grease. They are pretty easy to distort.
