1966 LeMans Sprint Fender Louvers

Posting for a friend, he is coming down the home stretch on his 1966 LeMans Sprint convertible restoration. The question is, are the front fender louvers supposed to be painted body color on the lower part and chrome on the raised edge? Or are they supposed to be all chrome, no body color?
Pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks, Bob C.

The louvers are all chrome - no painted areas.

Just to be clear these are a 1966 Lemans Trim regardless of engine.
And as stated they are Chrome.

IIRC it was the '65 that had body color added to the louvers and the Gills on the '67 Lemans had black paint on the leading edges.

Thanks guys, I will pass the info on to Ed. My first car was a 65 LeMans, and I remembered the body color on the lower fender lovers. I also though I remembered the lovers facing the opposite direction?
That was 52 years ago.
Thanks, Bob C.

Yes, the '65 were larger and treated with body color.

You are one of the few that noticed the louvers on my '66.
This is an unknown that I have never been able to solidly confirm.

I am the second owner of my Lemans and the louvers have remained as they were when I bought this car,
and questioned them myself but after a long time of research, it is still unknown as to the correct orientation.
I've spent a lot of time searching out any/all '66 Lemans' it became clear that you will find them both ways.

So I chose to keep mine as they were and felt better about doing so after seeing several original cars with the same installation.
Right or wrong they went back as removed.

Jeff, I know what you are saying about differences from car to car , same year same model. I have seen many examples over the years. I usually do the same thing, restore it as it was, if I am sure that is the way it left the factory. I have had to walk away from more than 1 know it all's that have never done a concourse restoration, at a car show.
Like you, I try to research such things as much as I can. I was looking in the GTO a book of information.
It has parts book type pages wit the different views and molding and fastener call outs, quantity and P/N.
This is the old blue cover one. 64 - 70, it covers GTO, Tempest, LeMans, LeMans Sport, Judge, & Sprint.
By looking at the drawing, I would have to say that your lovers are installed as they should be.
Thanks again for your help, Bob C

That too was part of my "research"
