'71 Exhaust Flange Gasket

I have a '71 455 in a Station Wagon. Stock exhaust manifolds.

Do these require a gasket? If so, what would you call this part to make my searches turn up more hits? I've always just called them donut gaskets or exhaust flange gaskets.

They don't have donut gaskets where exhaust pipe meets manifold.

When I got introduced to Pontiac restoration a couple years ago, I was astonished to see the exhaust pipe to manifold had no donut gasket also. It seals metal to metal.

Yup, it's a compression style fitting so no need for a gasket. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Thanks guys. Ben, I had posted this question, and then was on the wagon forum to message you a question so thought I'd ask you there also.

As most things do, this has snowballed into a larger project than I'd hoped.
