Custom exhaust
 

I have not seen this type of dual exhaust. looks very well done, are the dual pipe entry into the mufflers for better flow or for a quieter exhaust? on a 67 firebird on ebay. a very high end 67 firebird I might add.

that's a high dollar muffler. i'm very curious about flow. its gotta make it quieter I would think wrapping back into the other inlet. wouldn't that cause a backpressure though? sure would like to hear that system got a feeling it sounds spectacular.

The mufflers look like they are made for one in a two out.When the car was done looks like they reversed it and made it 2 in and one out?Tom

I didn't see it had a video attached. I like the exhaust but it did seem a bit to raspy and wasn't all that quiet. my dynomax ultra flows are quieter but i'm not using headers.

On the car sellers link it states "Quick Time Performance 2.75” Stainless Steel Exhaust." I looked at the Quick Times website and did not find a exhaust system that looked like the picture. However If you enlarge the picture of the cars underside you will note the stamped logo on the mufflers is from Quick Times. Same as the one on the Summit link.

numbers matching car, raced the original block, drive/race, stay with 15" wheels, aftermarket gauges and shifter etc. a true hero in a museum car world!

( JUDGE3- Thanks. Yes on fish and chips and a beer ! Old magazine article, the 505 has been thru different changes. Now with direct port fuel injection. The performance indicated was for 660 HP, but I recently changed cams to reduce intensity in the valvetrain. It's now a 625-630 HP engine. No intentions to track test it )

Steve,look at the pic and then the QT website.The muffler is made for a single in and one coming out for the exhaust and one for the cut out.When they did the car they rev it and used the cut out for another inlet?Tom

Tom, I think you are correct in that the exhaust cut out function seems to be eliminated when they installed the mufflers on the car, at least to me when you enlarge the picture of the cars exhaust system. And when you do you can see the large letters QTT on the mufflers and their logo. Again, here it is on the Summit website:

On their website for the cut out... "Floating flange design for optimal valve positioning". They just removed it for the car.

Well I enlarged the cars underside picture again and now I'm not sure they eliminated the cut out.

Yes put on backwards..but it does make sense in a way..no need for turn downs. Use the same tailpipe..somebody was thinking outside of the box.

This just works in a similar fashion as some of the new cars do, like some of the new vettes for instance.

It's just a full exhaust system that is able to bypass the mufflers when you flip the switch.

Think of it as a modern design of the old Pontiac VOE option in 1970.

They are installed correctly. When closed the muffler works as a Typical offset inlet/offset outlet design. When opened the muffler turns into a straight through design (no baffling) and exits out the tailpipes.

It's neat and all that, but I personally just prefer having the electric cutouts on their own path, without running through the complete tailpipe system. It's cheaper, louder, and likely works better anyway if you're looking for HP.

We have QTP cutouts on 2 cars. They make a nice product.

Yep it’s just a dump that sends it out the tailpipe instead of under the car.
