68 Vent Window details

I have a couple of questions about the details of 68 Vent window weatherstrip.

In the photo below (left red arrow) is this section of the fuzzy supposed to overlap the vertical trim like it does? It seems to keep the vent window frame from closing the gap to the door skin properly.

(Right Red Arrow) .. is this flap supposed to tucked inside the door skin as seen, or should it be pulled out and laid on top?

Thank you righteous 68 and 69 members :)

Don't know about correct but mine is the same with overlap and the rubber is tucked.

Thanks folks ... looks like I was over thinking it as usual, the obvious way is THE way :)

Wow John, this is getting eerie… lol. Now I’m at the point of me not even being able to post a question because when I come here to post it, I see your same question at the top of the list lol.

Haha, but seriously, thanks for posting both your questions and progress with everything you’ve gotten into. It has helped me immensely.

I just grabbed my window seals last night and tried to sort this same thing out. I swore I had pics saved somewhere that are almost as good as what you already have now in this thread.

Question for you though… Did your outer weatherstrip pieces have/include clips for mounting (that go into the slots)? Mine didn’t and I have no old weatherstrip to steal them from. I also can’t find them online. I thought I might have remembered that you could just drill and screw next to each clip location to secure, but maybe I’m just thinking about the inners where people often screw them on with a fine black screw Instead of staple? It seems like the clips might help hold the entire piece downward instead of just to the side where it might want to roll/twist.

Speaking of clips… I got your window clips removed last night when I pulled the back glass. Should have them in the mail this week along with the others.

I'd rather be eerie than creepy :)

My outer fuzzies had the clips (made into the strip) ... they have three prongs, the center prong goes inside the slots on the door, the outer prongs on the outside of the slots. They hold it down real nice when they snap in.

Yes the inners on mine go on with staples. Don't see why you couldn't screw on the fuzzies ... but you'd have to be real careful that the screw heads can't touch the glass and scratch it. Mine might need a screw in the back towards the door handle ... I don't guess they use a clip back there and it seems pretty loose ... although it's better when the glass is in helping hold it in place.

I'm waiting on some vinyl top trim so the window trim is still a week or so away. Thanks again.
