Having a hard time finding parts

Boy. I sure didn't know how hard it was finding parts for my 64 Catalina till I bought it. Lol

Especially now since I moved to Montana.

Guess that's what happens when you move to a teeny,tiny town lol

No wrecking yards the whole state have anything .
And the few places I found online are limited too.

But it is going to be cool to drive a car that's almost as old as me when she road ready !!

Even in just the last 7 years, it feels like parts have, or are, drying up quickly.

What are you looking for for your '64?

Sometimes a mechanical restoration makes more sense than trying to fix every rusted panel and restore the car to perfection.

Make it roadworthy and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Front fenders or even patch panels , stock radio, doesn't have to work. Front seats and brackets, and brake parts

Brake parts should be easy to find on Rockauto.com or from most major internet parts houses.

Adapting seats from another vehicle isn’t uncommon if you are having trouble finding an original one. You’re kinda stuck because shipping one from out of state is costly.

You can post a ‘parts wanted’ ad in the appropriate classified forum and likely find a radio. Just because you haven’t seen one posted for sale doesn’t mean they’re not out there.

Front fender patch panels can be fabricated locally by a decent body guy, most the ones available don’t usually fit well and need a lot of reworking anyway.

You are right, I just need to get it up and running first. Lol

Check the for sale cars, contact them for any spare parts they may have.

isn't there a gold mine of a wrecking yard in Montana?

I had heard of it, and a buddy was there years ago...

EDIT:
Correction;
It's in Idaho;
Wendell Idaho.

I want to go there to spend a day, but don't think I can convince my wife to make it a part of a vacation...

This is around the corner from me. If anyone needs anything, I'd be happy to take a look.

I don't know which small town you are in but might be close to one of these. Look up Mike Adams in Livingston. He's at the west side of town.

Look up Alan Crowder in the Malta area. I suspect he is gone now but son is probably there. You can't miss the place just west of town on north side of highway 2.

50's, 60's, 70's......

Post a picture of which radio you're looking for. I have a couple big car radios. You can have one for the ride.

My BIL and I are planning an ID salvage yard trip as soon as he retires. The poor guy has to work all summer because he is an area transportation supervisor for the local system where he lives.

Watch Rock Auto - they like to freely mix U.S.- and Canadian-spec Pontiac parts without warning.

I just checked my POCI Smoke Signals magazine. There are 64 parts and a 64 convertible for sale.looked like it needed work .just saying.

Goatracer1 04-15-2024 12:23 PM

I've found that there are plenty of parts but they are usually too far away to make them worth buying. Too far to drive and too expensive to ship.

Well apparently I misrepresented myself. The 2 radios we had at the shop have disappeared and nobody knows where they went. I hope I didn't get your hopes up too high.
