MECUM 1971 Trans Am - anyone know seller?
Just saw this 1971 Trans Am cross the block in the MECUM auction in Dallas.
Hit $52,000 --- with reserve not met. Anyone know the seller? https://www.mecum.com/lots/DA0922-52...ans-am-custom/ |

Looks like it sold for $63,800.

Mighty fine! Would be interesting to know if it was the original motor though you would be hard pressed to build it for that number. Seems like a deal either way.

An after auction buyer then. It actually last sold a couple years ago in the $60k range: it appears:

Given the $ a well done restomod normally brings, I'd guess there were issues with this car that were evident in the flesh but not so much in the pictures. Which happens a lot with auction cars. |
60 over 455 and stock heads - for a restomod/pro-touring car ... meh
Older Baer brakes. Lamest interior I have ever seen. But the good --- mini-tubbed, a stick, true Trans Am and those killer wheels. What does one want for $60k, right? To be worth more needs better brakes, aftermarket subframe, more motor. That is thing with these builds, purists would never touch this car even though it is a Trans Am. And the casual buyer picks a Camaro with an LS swapped in. Too dated for most (save for the rims). |
