Sticky Ignition cylinder

My 06 is having a problem with the ignition cylinder, when going from accy to the start position it gets kinda tough to turn like its binding, sprayed some white lithium grease in it and it loosens up for a little while then gets tough to turn again, anyone else having or had this problem? need to replace it? thanks for any help.

You need to go on LS1GTO.com and the ignition lock problem was covered in depth. When it starts sticking they said you need to take action or it will lock up completely and then you'll have a bigger problem as it needs to turn to be removed and repaired. I read about it awhile ago, but mines doing fine right now so I'm not to worried at this point. Good luck on your repairs..................:)

Yeah, get that taken care of ASAP or it will leave you stranded.

Some folks take a dremel to their ignition cylinder to smooth it out, but the best way to fix it is to order the new style ignition cylinder - p/n 92234035

Tried the dremel trick and it is working like a champ, re lubed it with some white lithium and even with the car baking in the sun all day the key turns like new.
