Value of hood?
 

My barber has a GTO hood hanging in his garage he wants to sell. It has surface rust under side and dent free top side. It looks to be a 64-67 , but I can't tell. What's a hood worth? Are the years different, as well as value?

You could tell if it was a '64 if it has dual hood scoops. '65 - '67 have one scoop in the middle. Big difference in price between the two. I have seen nice '64 hoods sell for $2600.00 while rough ones will pop up for $400.00 - $500.00. '65 - '67 hoods are basically a dime a dozen. I've seen guys "ask" $750.00 for nice ones but never seen them sell. On average, a '65 - '67 hood will run between $250.00 - $400.00 cash in hand. I have a decent one I've been asking $275.00. I've been trying to sell it for 5 years. Hope this helps.

I think the 65 to 67 hoods went down in value after they started repoping them. 64 hood way different with 2 scoops. 65 to 67's one scoop in center of hood. The only difference between the 65 to 67 hoods is the 65 had the arrow head in the middle of the grill and the 66 and 67 had it on the front center of the hood.

I was going to post to this earlier but decided to wait for the experts. My estimate was about the same as all of yours... I've seen '64 hoods go for upwards of $4000 on eBay...but it's been years ago so I decided to search first and just came to the realization that they are re-popped now. That's when I decided to see what you guys said. Don't know what quality they are but they are running about $600~$700 for the repops..

For those restoring a 65-67 GTO and want an OEM GM hood. That’s because they know the reproduction hoods have a valley in front of the scoop on both sides and require filler to fix them unless you don’t care about having bondo on your hood. Good rust free hoods where the inner hood hasn’t thinned turning it into a jagged saw edge where the hood pad tucks under will run you around $1,000 in the Midwest. Speaking from experience.

The guy said he would sell it to me for $100. Just surface rust. Has been in his garage for decades.

Yeah, score. I'd take that at that price even if I didn't have an immediate use for it.

65-67 hoods do actually have minor differences each year. As mentioned above, 65 did not have the arrowhead on the hood. 66 and 67 had the arrowhead, but 66 uses studs held by a clip to attach the hood to the hinges, while 67 used bolts.
