drag tire width

Hi Folks: Let say you run a 10.5 width drag slick, and you go to a wider slick, say 11"

My question if running at 12-13 psi. Would the larger width slick require less pressure to hold the tire to rim without turning on the rim? No rim screws on either tire. I'm thinking on volume of air in tires at a given pressure.

Thanks

I dont think it would make any difference if your dead hooking with both. The amount of rubber contacting the lip should be about identical. If you were spinning with the 10 and dead hook with the 11 it will probably want to spin more on the rim. Lowering the pressure will only add to the problem without screws

Ok, Thank you Been reading about using Permatex high tack on rims and beads. I did a little experiment with rubber on a piece of aluminum and results were very positive. Forgot to mention the tires only moved about 1/2" on the rims first time out after mounting, no issues since. 10.30 at 132 mph.

Ive had good luck with bead sealer that tire shops use . I went from a 28 10.50 S to a 28 11.5 . Mt bias for both and run 14 psi. No tubes for either, just went thru a few coats of dawn dish soap on the inside.
