If it is not raining, plan to be there with the 2004 GTO. Firebird's engine still apart.
|
Will be there with the '70 GTO. Weather permitting...what else is new!

Rain supposed to stop by 8am so right now show is still on. Can call them
In the morning. If youd like but that was the answer I got around 3pm sat. |
Wow, brought a real 15k Mile RAIV car w documented racing history , w an actual RAV pro stock dual quad engine in it and didn’t even trophy at this show.
I did enjoy getting to see some old friends and meeting some new ones, though. |

I’ve heard the old break away race car didn’t get treated any better and that was also a significant car to Pontiac history. Funny the yenko.net guys appreciate old race cars w history and even recreations in day 2 period correct cars . Pontiac guys could learn a lot from that, no one kept these cars stock back then people thought you were driving your moms car if it had stock wheels and tires and no slapper bars. A day 2 period correct class is needed , a separate class maybe w , points for rarity, and points for historical significance added as well that way it separates the dealer race cars from The day 2 recreations some how. I’d say 70 percent of the Pontiac people didn’t even know what my engine was in my car! I heard a few say it was a big block Chevy. |

You’d think people would know what this is if they are Pontiac enthusiasts at least the judges

Your RA V Bird is awesome ! Definitely an unique Pontiac.
I have not paid attention over the years at this show, but I noticed it may have something to do with socially circulating. It seem each segment kinds of sticks together, and may not know have Pontiac knowledge. Hell, I did not not even pick up your engine until I spied the unique exhaust in the heads. Kind of such as rare item , one would never expect to see ! I made the rounds and BSed with each group, chatting up and learning about their cars, and that I own two different segments of Pontiacs. I think some in turn checked out my Goat, thus I did get a third place trophy . All in all, great day in mingle and learn more about Pontiacs. |

Very different to pick up a catalog today and buy parts Vs a vintage race engine from 1970 that was experimental and shouldn’t have ever left Pontiac that was raced by a dealer. Not saying one is better then the other I own both myself . Turbo car and the RAV pro stock. But dint think they are even close to the same thing . The two yellow cars are the same car 50 years later . L Why isn’t a firebird w an aluminum radiation moved into modified. Or a car w aftermarket bumper that looks stock that came from China. My point is there’s no classification for these old race cars . That were a very significant part of Pontiac history . |
I saw cars trophy w the wrong heads and intake and radiator for their year in stock classes.
I’ve still got the factory ball joints in my car. All GM metal , but god forbid it had cragars and headers it’s just foolish. |
Always get the feeling at some car show that the people hosting are handing trophy’s out to their buddy’s.
RAV is definitely unique and the type of stuff that I like to see. Cool car! |
