1971 Firebird deluxe seatbelts

5 Attachment(s)
Restored set of deluxe blue seatbelts from a 1971 Firebird. I previously owned a 1971 Trans Am with blue interior and standard (black) seatbelts, and I had these belts restored with the intention of installing them in the Trans Am. I used the date codes that were on the standard belts when I had these restored. I wound up selling that car before installing these belts, so I no longer have any use for them.

These belts were professionally restored by Sharon's Web Inc., in Hawkins TX.

$1000.00 plus shipping.

Impressive restoration; the belts look factory brand new or better

Saved https://sharonswebinc.com/index.html to my favourites for future reference.

Do you know if she sells belts also or only restores them?

Brad,

I don't know if she has belts for sale or just restores customer's belts. I sent her my belts and she later called me with an estimate to restore them. Before she went ahead with the work she sent me a sample of the webbing so I could approve the color. She did a very nice job on them. She used to work for Snake Oyl before starting her own business.

FYI, one of the things that will really drive up the cost of seat belt restorations is the cost of the labels. Each label is $15.00. If you figure one safety label and two date code labels for each belt, it can be quite costly.

Chris what does that date code decode out as?

eaglesan13 06-14-2021 06:43 PM

My understanding of the seat belt date codes is as follows:

The rear lap belts are dated 49 A 70 and the front belts are dated 50 A 70. The first number (49 and 50) denote the week of the year and the last number is the year they were produced, which in this case was 1970. The Alpha character, (in this case A) is the day of the week, with A being Monday, B - Tuesday, etc. Therefore, the rear belts are dated November 30, 1970 and the front belts are dated December 7, 1970. Those were the date codes of the belts that were in my car, which was built in the Norwood plant during the second week of February 1971. At the time I had these restored, I considered just using one date code, but decided to stick with what was originally in the car.

FYI, each label (including the date code label and the "Important" label was an extra $15.00 at the time I had these restored. Kinda pricey, but they turned out very nice.

I’m pretty sure you’re correct, probably stretching it on my 03C car but let me kick it around. Those Are really beautiful belts

Just curious, I have a 1970 currently being restored. I am missing some of the belts. Besides the date codes are the belts in a 71 the same as a 70? If so these might work. Thanks

The 1970 belts use a retractor on the outboard belt of the front bucket seats while the 71's used a strap, so the belts are different. Also, I'm not sure if the color would be the same or different since 1970 used bright blue interior. I believe the 71 blue interior was slightly darker.
