My rear blower motor
2 Attachment(s)
My car is basically stock as my dad had it. I believe this is a stock rear 1970 blower motor and hope it still works its all complete. I m ordering a new m and h wire harness for the car and want to swap it out. This blower motor has not been on in over 35 years ,hope it works. Anyone know what years are compatible if it doesn't. So far on my quest to find a 904 I gathered 2 902, 2 903, 2 blanks, 2 928. And 1 903 repop. I also gathered all the correct fans and pullies to make one with a blank, but if I find one out there I might nab it up. So that's the rear defogg unit that required the 904 with ac. The switch is located on dash next to cigarette lighter and that is complete too, also have the plate. My dash board is toast and I hope to.buy one from.a new friend as a good core or if one is out there. Im.getting close to have all my number matching stuff. Then slowly getting stuff rebuilt.

as for the fan motor, why not have the original rebuilt?
|
Yes that's rear blower fan. Who rebuilds it if it doesn't work?

You don't have the electric grid defog, so your alternator should be the 1100903.

Electronic grid

Did they have electric grid in 1970? I read charts my friends give me and was unaware of both blower and electric. This in interesting now! |

I am betting that motor works.
As its an option, it had its own harness. |

A buddy has a 1970 factory set up, its all original, its a 903. AC and the rear blower. The 71 and up could change things as they didn't make a high amp 10si till later in the 70's.

The blower motor will probably draw 10-15A on start up and drop to 5-7A to run. An electric grid will draw a lot for longer periods requiring a more stout alternator. '71 they realized they needed to go to the larger 12SI alternator.
Either defogs were an option. Option 341 is the 6 cylinder engine. |

is a >> type 27Si << The type 12Si is a newer upgrade of the 10si, and has same size and plastic fan in front. Just trying to keep the facts right, no offense .. I agree, the Grid types draw More current for longer periods. I have Never seen a 1970 with the rear window grid system. |

I looked into it more.
So, even though the electric grid option was offered, none were installed on the '70 Firebird series. 1640 were installed in '71s and 1862 were installed in '72s. The blower defog was installed in 3097 '70, 2697 '71 and 1787 '72 Firebird series. Yes, 27SI is what I was thinking, not 12SI. Thanks for the correction Bruce. |

Is the 27si alternator the 80 amp one? The phs docs say the 904 is a heavy duty alternator but people say they have seen them. 🤔 is the 904 same housing as 903 and 902 or does it require special brackets and if no.back.grids where ever installed was this alternator even on a car?Wallace racing says 904 used with ac and defogger. Well im.happy with a 903 or a blank.but im.curious. thanks |

How were you able to access that information? I have a complete setup from one of those 3,097 cars sitting in my garage loft (ok, the switch isn't in my loft, it's in a parts organizer with other similar switches). |
