69 gp gas gauge stuck on full

finally took out the gp today and ran out of gas. i thought i filled it three years ago when i put it away. would this be the sending unit float stuck? thanks

I think the trick is to unplug the tan wire in your trunk
Coming from the taillight loom
That wire should go to the sender
Unplug
Turn key on
Any difference??

If you unplug the tan wire and turn the ignition key to ON the fuel gage should go to beyond full. Then if you ground the tan wire going to the taillight loom the gage should go to beyond empty. If you get both results your fuel gage in the dash and all the wiring from the gage to the connector in the trunk is good. Your problem is either in the wire going from the connector in the trunk to the sender in the tank or the sender itself. That’s assuming you have fuel in the tank.

Or a broken or dirty ground where the black wire from the sender bolts to the floor pan or somewhere.
