kick panel installation

I'm reinstalling the kick panels in my 67 GTO after having them off for a long time. The service manual picture (Fig. 18-106) shows one screw to attach, but also references an 'insulator' to be glued to the trim. The illustration is specific to an A/C car, which mine is . Does anyone know what this insulator looks like? A picture would be great. TIA for any help.

I don't remember any "insulator" on the back side of my passenger AC kick panel when I installed it years ago. Can you post a pic? Does the book show anything?

I don't remember anything back there. From the term 'insulator,' I'm guess it would be some kind of bumper or pad.

Try again... See lower right.

While I'm on the topic. is your driver-side panel attached with just one screw? Picture?

It could be they had insulation glued to the back side. Notice the dashed outline in the illustration.

Thanks, Red. I'm sure you are correct.

Simular JUTE like under carpet.

I believe the driver side is attached with just one screw...I'll try to check later if I can get out there. I also agree about the insulation...it looks like something was glued on there...but I don't have that on mine.

Thanks again for your replies, and thanks to Jeff and Red as well for pitching in.
Be well!

Boltbuster......I stand corrected...the driver side has 2 screws securing the kick panel. One screw is sort of in the middle of the panel and the second screw is lower and closer to the firewall. The passenger side has just 1 screw....AC kick panel on passenger side. Sorry no pics.
