AC O-ring kits
Can someone recommend a good o-ring kit for the AC system on a 68 GTO with A6 compressor.
I need one that has the o-rings for the drier, the drier extension tube etc. Needs to be R12/134 compatible. I see a lot out there but no idea if they include things like the Pontiac specific extension tube orings, or which brands are any good. Also ... does anyone sell just the hose? I see all the hoses with fittings, but how about just plain hose for the sections with no fittings? Thanks |
Anyone?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I can tell you I buy the $15 "R-134a o-ring assortment" kits from Amazon and they mostly never have what I need. I did my neighbor's Super Duty (ford, not Pontiac) the other day and my kit didn't have the condenser o-rings. You might get lucky and find all the correct sizes in a kit like that, or you might be better off removing each of your o-rings and going in to a NAPA or somewhere to pick through their assortment (which is hopefully larger than what you'd get in a generic kit you'll end up throwing away mostly unused in 15 years).

You could try The Original Air Group.

Old Air says they have a kit, doesn't specify whether it has the condenser drier orings. I've got plenty of o-rings here ... but they are generic, not sure if they are suitable for AC systems.

I only use the green ones originally designed for Fords.

A call to Old Air should clarify what they would be sending you.

Shot them an email, should hear back today.

I've got the typical box set of o-rings, kind of a standard item for a well equipped shop .. but I have doubts about using them in an AC system.

I only use the green "O" rings originally designed by Motorcraft regardless of what brand vehicle I'm working on and never have a problem.

The $15 "R-134a o-ring assortment kits" I mentioned in post 3 are the green O-rings for R-134a and PAG oil. I still haven't had great luck with them fitting what I need... if the ID is right, it's not thick enough. If it's thick enough, I have to stretch it. They work for about 75% of the average job, but if I have to go to the store to match up the one o-ring the kit didn't have, I might as well go buy all new ones.
