I personally witnessed a Corvette guy commit suicide after seeing this:

Those corvette wheels dont even look that bad on that VW bus...

I secretly want a T3 caravelle myself.

Further proof that social media warps the mind.

Try the non-suicidal approach. Look at the effect the second Gen Firebirds have had on multiple generations? People are willing to ANYTHING to get that look and feel back. Even though 99.9% of the things they are doing makes us want to vomit, it's an interesting social statement.

Here, hopefully this will bring you back down and restore hope.

I was thinking the same thing. One of the most popular cars ever made. To this day, people, even young people, love them. The last time I had my car out I had this younger guy yell out to us "I love your car man!!" Of course, I don't have a hood bird, but still, people love these cars. The fact that after all these years, people put hood birds on all these other cars is high praise. I'll take it.

The other thing that strikes me about the early second gen cars is even the lowest models look good. A plain Jane, inline 6, no optioned car still is a good looking car with a nice dash and nice seats and the same endura front end as a top line Trans Am. Can't say the same for a base Camaro. They look cheap and incomplete to me. Z28 is a nice car.

I was an Industrial Design major when I saw first pics of 2nd gen. I thought wow, that is nice. Other guys with me thought same thing.

Yes, Way better than the 84,85 vette. Those were ugly.

b-man 06-27-2022 07:27 PM

I put those ‘84 Corvette wheels on my ‘66 pickup back in 1988, still turns heads wherever it goes.

A friend has a 2nd gen F Bird, Light Blue paint job, basic engine and trans.
But is very well maintained and looks nice at the car shows: No scoops, no ducts,
no bird on the hood, no t-roof, no spoiler. Just a nice looking Pontiac 2nd gen F- Bird.

I had a white 1973 Grand Am 2-dr with a 455. It was a great driving car, I really liked it. The previous owner replaced the stock Rally IIs with a set of Corvette 25th Anniversary 15x8 wheels. I always liked those wheels because the design was so clean. I caught crap from both Pontiac guys and the Corvette guys over those wheels. I finally took them off and put Rally IIs on the car so I wouldn't have to listen to the complaints. I think I still have the wheels.
