Lower valance not aligning

Hi All,
we are trying to put the car back together for its repaint and the lower panel under the nose cone won't go back flush. The gaps above the indicators is a lot wider than they were before the panel was taken off and there is no way the centre will go close enough to bolt up to anything. The section under the indicators seems to line up with the front part of the fenders.

Any ideas???

How is the fit from the bottom of the valance panel to the lower radiator support? Is it too low to match up also?

let's see pics of both sides to fender. The J bracket behind bumper should be installed for mock up and the lower valence brace which attaches to it.

Is it a 73? If so, I would get a plastic one for it. They look better.

Here are close up pics and one of it before we took it to the paintshop.

More pics. Before the paint job started and one as it is at the moment.

I think that the lower valence is a repop based on the side pic.
It fits like a steel repop in that area.

Would that make a difference? Whatever it is, it fitted before and it won't now.
It certainly has us stumped.

Looks like you skim coated the fenders...Did you skin coat to adjust gaps?

From my experience, I have found that the repop valence, if you make the front line up, push it up, the bottom side to fender has a gap. Yours would look like that if it was loose and you brought up front.
Do you have 2-3 washers spacing the core down off the bottom of the subframe?

Looks like the fender flange was built up with filler. The fender should angle back just below the nose. Yours is tilting the valance forward maybe 1/4". The centre of valance looks flat and needs to be bent back.
