is this "the black car"?
I know there's a second black 1972 Formula 455HO around that is nearly the same, so I have trouble keeping track of which is which;
I think the "real" black car has bounced between sellers some since Bob let it go - so Bob was the last person to really enjoy the car... So my question stands; Is this "the black car"? https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...d/2643058.html https://image.hmn.com/-NQjedU8ISjddF...e/94796097.jpg My gut (because I'm a bit foggy on the details) says the spoiler wasn't an option on "the black car", and it was left off when Bob redid it - so this is the "other" car right? |
Damn that a good Looking car . Never liked 69s in black (had one) but that is gorgeous in black

What's selling price

NJSteve and Bob's Formula was from Canada I think. This is from McMullen Pontiac.
:confused: |
Not the same '72 HO Formula. BentwheelBob's '72 black car was the loaded out M22 black HO Formula.
The upcoming auction car is the TH400 HO Formula brass hat car. Has been listed for sale before, believe on eBay. Am sure there is a discussion somewhere here on the board. Hopefully, the sheetmetal/frame rail issues have been professionally addressed. |
well now there's egg on my face.
I know... er was well aware that "the black car" was a four speed, but thought in glancing that this one was a four speed... I had thought there was another black four speed car around... I remember it was from Canada, but maybe forgot that it was originally ordered into Canada; I seem to recall Steve(?) sharing image of pulling off the heads - and showing those compression compensating pistons... lol Such a cool car, on so many levels. |

Seems the color was NN? :confused: |
Whatever it is, that's one beautiful looking car. It looks so good I may even take it with that auto trans and AC. :eek:

I have lots of fun with the '73 Formula I used to own; It was a factory 350/350 car, but the numbers engine was worn out when I got it, so I ended up putting in a lightly breathed on 400 with 1969 #62 heads; the 2.73:1 gears made it at times a bit sluggish, but I had tons of fun with that car. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...1&d=1670371207 |

I think recently it has stalled around 100K and didnt make reserve. The top Core support would Not pass muster with most of us either As I recall this car has 2 PHS sheets as well. |

The PHS is basically a copy of the Bill of Lading. I signed these when I was doing "intakes" on cars and trucks off the carrier. They have the Dealer ( or another part of GM on the destination) and the Interest date to measure 1 year from for "Floor plan"delivery set ups at dealerships. This car was "delivered" Internally which instigated 1 Bill of Lading, then a second was made when delivered to a selling dealer as GMAC was financing most of these "floor plans" and wanted signed proof the car was delivered and what date and time for record keeping with floor plan Interest system. |
oh.
I misinterpreted that as one was legit, and one was less than legit. Thanks for clarifying. |
