Well, stencils and stripes will tell you there is no difference, as that is the numbers they have from GM. That is what they told me when I ordered up my whale stripe for my 72.

I know that the deck lid GTO is smaller than the fenders/quarters. I need a smaller set, but I haven't delved into that any farther. I haven't looked at the PY, year ones yet to see if they offer the smaller trunk.

I'd be interested to see the postings here have to say. Well, I'm a lot of help http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

I bought decals in the mid 70's from a Pontiac dealer and the fenders and trunk lid decals all had the same part numbers.

The differences are that they are different sizes. PY and Ames sell them.

and who was it that say"s size doesn"t matter http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif I see there are diff. part #'s ...which is larger, deck lid or fender http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif reason I ask is I won a pair from e-bay about 6 months ago & need at least 1 more,..would like to have correct sizes though

Goats_Hogs 10-11-2004 06:29 AM

Decklid is smaller. I can measure them and get back to you so you know which ones that you have.

I wonder if anyone has a NOS trunk decal?

NeighborsComplaint 11-03-2021 06:33 PM

As has been mentioned, the trunk decal is smaller and the letters are spaced farther apart.

This confusion comes from the fact that GM parts later merged the two different sized decals into one number.
