Recore For Radiators
I have a source here in New Castle for SLK cores made in Phiadelphia, PA. If you're thinking of doing a recore I highly recommend these SLK cores. More tubes and more fin/sq inch. I had my 3 core recored with one of these about 2 years ago and it's been great. The owner of the shop says it's like having a 4 core radiator with out having to buy a new 4 core.
Shop is Wilson's Radiator Service on the intersection of Rts 141 and 273. Phone for the shop is 302-328-3593 or his cell # 302-897-9976. Ask for Dick Wilson the owner. |
Here are a couple of photos of the SLK core installed. It actuall looks very close to the original 3 row stock radiator. The stock upper and lower tanks are still used. Sorry but I can't remember how many the stock 3 core has for tubes. This SLK core has 158 total, and many many more fins. These extra tubes are what make it the same as a 4 core.

What was your cost for the recore?
|
Just saw your question Chuck. Cost was 410.25 complete. Competitive with ordering and shipping a new radiator out of any of the catalogs. And that's the main reason I did it locally with the SLK core.

Thanks Gary.

I just saw Dick Wilson this morning at the autoparts store I hang out at. For his age he looked really good. I mentioned my GTO and the recore he did. He asked how it was running. I told him great..... He just smiled and said "that's how it should be".

May have to give them a call and see about the cost of getting my "59" radiator done. I know it has been a while since this post, will just have to call and see what is up.
