vintage brake booster question

I pulled this off the shelf today....for an exploratory...

I'm guessing 59-61 GM.....

The master was still attached......and it took some serious work with a big hammer and chisel to remove it.....(even after I took the bolts off...:D)

The inside was just loaded with that white powder.....

Was this somebody's cocaine stash...or just decomposed diaphragm.etc.?

Was the master cylinder aluminum? Looks like corroded aluminum. Would also explain why master was so hard to get off. Corrosion between 2 dissimilar metals.

nope....master was definitely cast iron...and booster is stamped steel

That is a 1959-1961 Bendix booster, You need a Bendix master to go with it.

Contact the Power Brake Exchange and see if they can shed some light on it.
