Do I have to remove crossmember

Do I have to remove the crossmember to remove the transmission and engine together on a 350 olds? I removed almost all the exhaust, and the engine is free. But it seems the transmission the thing thats getting stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

Not necessarily. If you unbolt the transmission from the crossmember mount at the top, leaving the mount attached to the crossmember, the tailshaft should slide right off. Having a friend under the car to help guide wouldn't hurt either.

Unfortunately I think cd cookie is right cause it ain't going anywhere and that stud where it was bolted to the crossmember isn't moving

I think you would have to remove the 2 upper bolts from the trans mount were it bolts to the transmission, then it "should" slide off. But I have always removed the trans mount myself.
