what are the cam specs? Solid or hyd? Roller?

Crower .455 and.477 lift!!
|
The cheap way would be crane cams spring and retainer kit that sells for $100 summit part no. crn-28308-1 these springs max out a .515 lift. I used them with a cam that had .490 lift with no problems. It was also a hyd. cam.

Why not ask Crower what springs they recommend with their cam?
I'd be very surprised if the 68404 wouldn't work for you. Sets up at near stock height, works with stock retainers and can take up to .550" lift easily though you have to watch out for retainer to seal clearance if using stock retainers. http://www.willbaker.com/misc/BLUBLUR2.jpg ---------------------------- '72 Formula 400 Lucerne Blue, Blue Deluxe interior - My first car! ventura7211,
what combo did you have the Lunati cam in, and how did it perform? I have that cam in my 400/400 turbo/670 heads, but I cant seem to get it to run right. |

I had the cam in a 406 also but with a turbo 350 w/ a 3000 stall. The shortblock I bought used with federal mogul pistons, rings, and bearings. It had stock rods with arp bolts. I used 670 heads and because of the dish in the pistons the compression ratio was around 9.5. I only got to make around 30 passes due to the short block being assembled too tight and it ate all the bearings. Up top I had a torker II and an 850 holley. This was used in my ventura with 4.56 gears (for a 1000ft). The best time I can remeber was a 10.50 at 98mph. with a 1.83 short time on true radials. With drag radials the car would pull high 1.6 to low 1.7 60 foot times but I never got to try them with the 850 carb instead with 750 w/ vacuum secondaries it still went a 10.60 in the 1000ft. I think that converts to a low 12 sec 1/4 mi time. The motor like to be shifted at 5800rpm. |
