Is there a way to tighten-up the play in the pivot area of the tilt wheel? I posted this question on the POCI site and someone said you could ,but you need a special tool. They didn't say what the tool was called, but that you get could it from a tool vendor.

My son's Monte Carlo SS did the same thing.
I just went to the junkyard and got a different one http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_rolleyes.gif

There is a special tool, and I think it's called a pivot pin puller or something like that. I took mine to a local shop and they did it for me once. Cost about $20.00. Probably cheaper than the tool. This Web Page may help though. Her's another web page too.

Thanks a bunch AX. This looks like a good winter project.I had to put in a new ignition switch when I purchased this car, so I'm somewhat familiar with some of this procedure. It's amazing how many so-called experts are around until you try to get specific procedures. Thanks again 7t8ta.

just want you to know that the ignition switch is real easy compared to the piviots in the steering column. I really did switch the column out in my sons Monte Carlo.
