I looked at a wiring diagram. The line to the switch should be an 18 guage orange wire. Teh switch probably grounds itself. Couldn't find the colors for the release. They should be obvious.

If you are just trying to get it to work, any hotwire should work. Preferably one that is only hot with the key switched on.

Orange or red wire plugs into the fuse box goes over to the switch. Then a black wire connects to the other terminal on the switch and runs to the back of the car to the solenoid mounted on the trunk lid latch. The solenoid grounds out through the body of the car.

My 81 someone had used the black wire to a common ground for the stereo! Had to trace it from the trunk up and splice in for the hot wire.

I could be mistaken, but the latch/solenoid grounds from the trunk lid itself, with one wire leading from the trunk to the switch input, and the output lead goes to the cig lighter or the fuse panel. Whatever Dennis said.

The latch solenoid grounds to the body though the same bolts that mount the trunk latch assembly. The latch is on the rear tail light panel on F-bodies. Grand Prix's used the same latch/solenoid setup but it was mounted on the trunk lid so maybe thats what you are thinking of.

Power connector simply plugs onto the fuse block with a female/male blade connector. The power trunk release is a REALLY simple circuit and is easy to add.

I'm just curious, did 79's have the option for this? I seen a 80 Firebird at the junkyard yesterday with it, and I am very tempted to borrow this http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif

77-up had the remote deck lid release. The UPC code was A90.

Actually the remote decklid release was available right from the begining of the 2nd-gen in 1970.
