Hello everyone, I've had this car for a year or so. I just thought I'd share some of the work I've done. More recent pictures soon to come.

First the front end rebuild.

BEFORE: thirty plus years of dirt and grime.

I will put the swap in the next post as I know this thing can only take so many pics per post.

Before: How I got it... how did this thing actually run we I bought it? Pure luck.

good looking car and that engine looks much better.

Formulafr 10-20-2004 03:39 AM

you did a good job http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif

cujo 10-20-2004 04:46 AM

I just love pictures of restoration projects, it sure is better than looking at baby pictures. Great job.

Jandro 10-20-2004 06:11 AM

Thanks! But these are baby pictures! lol http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif

matrix 10-20-2004 09:22 AM

Nice job! quite a transformation. But I hope the zip ties holding that very expensive radiator are very temporary. That rad is pretty heavy when full of fluid.

PunchT37 10-20-2004 09:30 AM

Sounds like fun. Good job.

firebirdmi 10-20-2004 10:13 AM

Nice job. However, I suggest changing that air cleaner . I went from something around that size to a 14" unit and it made a BIG difference in power and operating RPM.

gearbanger 10-20-2004 10:21 AM

Ditto

Jandro 10-20-2004 11:08 AM

Since those picturese I have put on 28" Kumhos Ecsta STX tires and purchased a Holley "freflo" air cleaner. It hopefully will flow more air. The zip tires are very permanent, the car hasn't seen the road much since those pictures. I hope to have a radiator bracket set up in a couple days, hopefully so I can run it at the tack this Friday.

Bulldog 10-20-2004 06:54 PM

JAndro, that is one nice looking ride brother, however I wished I had it that easy when I started mine. Take a look..http://community.webshots.com/user/murphs314
I know there are others out there much worse but man. The only thing I dont show in my pics is what the 400 looked like with the stretched timing chain and field mice having made nests throughout the entire car, to include a nest I found when I pulled the valley pan. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif

SupergasDil 10-20-2004 07:22 PM

Jandro,
Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Me and my bud can relate to the flex fan photo.

Jandro 10-22-2004 09:59 PM

thanks you guys.

I went to lowes to find something to make a "bracket" out of, but the stuff I got was too soft/maliable. So what do most people do that have oversized radiators? Whats the best way to secure this thing?

Lil SCAPEGOAT 10-23-2004 12:49 AM

18--25 Seconds
My learning experience with temporary Radiator holddown was with 2 thin aluminum strips 3/4" wide @ original top bracket locations.
You won't think of Wind Force against a Large Flat surface, until about 50 mph,Squeese the gas Just a little!!,Hear the noise, recognize it,Turn OFF KEY,Smell new antifreeze, engine winds down, you get to the side of the road, open the hood,(elapsed time 18-25 secconds), to see the SAME Fanblade, just ate my Brand new $195.00 Radiator.....only 40 miles from home!
That feeling in my stomach... "Priceless"
Moral: carry needle nose pliers,& water in the antifreeze bottle.pinch the holes closed in the Radiator,(its already screwed up) watchfor refill sources all the way home.
How Much was That ALUM. Radiator????

Jandro 10-23-2004 10:41 AM

close to $200.

Could anyone show me a radiator support picture?

I would REALLY appreciate it.

EnergyFX 10-23-2004 08:16 PM

HAHA!!! You got bit by a flex fan!!! Now I don't feel like such a moron anymore from when I got bit by one 10 years ago.
