Hi Guys,
I attended a show on Saturday here in California. Man was it hot and humid. 100* in the shade. Anyway, end of the show people are loading up to leave and about 1/2 of the 400 cars have already pulled out when this guy comes up to the center stage area shouting that someone was driving off on his 56 Nomad. Talk about a lump in my throat. I'll never forget the look on his face. He saw his car being driven away. The police were called and about 10 minutes later the chopper was flying over. The guy was loading his car up with the keys in the ignition, turned away and walked a short distance to get his chairs, still within eyesight of his car but walking away. Someone had balls, and was watching and waiting. So as a reminder to all, trust no one and don't leave your keys in the car until you are ready to drive away.

If that were me, the dude better hope the cops get him before I do.

They found it parked against a curb in San Bernardino this morning about 10 miles from where the show was Saturday. Unlocked and out of gas. The car was unharmed and the only thing missing was the guys camera. This was one LUCKY guy.

There would be a good place for one of the remote
start/shut-off deals to be installed on your vehicle.

Can you imagine what would have happened to the "perp" if the car "died" and 1000 car nuts
chased and caught the slime ball?

Glad to hear he got it back http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gifbut he did leave keys in it.One reason I have a kill switch inline between igintion and starter even with keys in the igintion you cant start mine with out tripping the momentary switch to get the starter engaged. My sister-in-bread (I mean sister-in-law) stopped to see my wife one time and left her car running in front of my house. GONE! Some loser took it joy riding and then ran it into a farmers field. That wasn't enough, he then proceeded to smash out all of the windows and kicked dents in every body panel.

He picked the wrong car as her dad was a cop at the time. Believe it or not, they actually caught the retard and he spent a few in the pokey.

I have one of those battery isolator thingys on the GTO. When at the shows, I unscrew the contactor and slip it in my pocket (voila' no electricity), along with the keys. Old GM cars are famous for loose ignition tumblers, sometimes you don't even need keys to start one.

I figure that with the contactor gone, someone has to produce that exact part at the right moment and jimmy the lock to get it started. If they can do that, they've earned it. I firmly believe that locks are there to keep honest folks honest. Crooks are going to steal it unless you weld it to the ground.. nothing you can do against a determined thief with enough time.

Does anyone have a "LoJack" device on their classic like they advertise in some new cars? I assume it can be put in any car, wonder how much it costs for the unit and the monitoring service...

Directed Electronics, makers of viper, python, and clifford alarm systems, just came out with a gps tracking system. With their system you can track the vehicle nationwide. You can also set up custom alerts. Here are some examples: lets say you store the vehicle - you activate what they call invisi-fence I believe. If you car moves more than 100 meters then the system alerts you via pager, phone, or e-mail. You can also set speed alerts, if your car goes faster than say 70 mph you are alerted. Great for kids!
