hi there..we can´t find a moderate 400 ci engine for my car here in germany but we have found a Buick 350 CID 4bbl from 1971..we will this engine perform with a torque camshaft , and a edelbrock "Thunder" carburator maybe we take another intake manifold !..I hope it runs good with this conversion !

Sure! they can run very well. For more specific info on the Buick 350 check this link...

You have some decent options for that engine. It's a very tough engine and is designed well. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

Deep skirt block
Long rods
Long stroke
Modern combustion chambers
Sparkplug bias to the exhaust side
Distributor in front
Lighter than a small block Chevy!

thanks!...some people tell me that I find this engine in germany is like a "Jackpot" ! I hope so !..I´ll look at the link you tell me and ask at "frezze plugs" for the cylinderheads !..nobody in germany knows that this engine have freeze plugs on front and rearside the heads !

have you looked into having a pontiac engine shipped over to you?

400's are still plentiful here.

mike

catalina400 10-17-2003 08:18 AM

yes im looking for engines in the states but the shipping to germany is more expensive than the price of engine !..I think we put the powerfull buick engine into the ponti an have a lot of fun !!

mike nixon 10-18-2003 02:54 PM

my big concern is the 350 buick won't be enough engine to move the wagon respectibly.

that's a lot of car to move with a small cube engine.

hi mike,
you think the little buick engine is not tough enough for the station ?...some people tell me the early 350 CID (+0,30 pistons) are a very tough and hard working engine ?...what is fact ?

bonneville Joe 10-20-2003 07:04 PM

In all reality what its gonna cost you to build that 350 to move that Catalina around you could spend the $ and ship over a good Pontiac 400 or better and not have to rework the engine mounts to make the Buick fit.
