Who knows the proper code and paint manufacturer for a base/clear euratheyne version of this paint? http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif
PPG Deltron DBC custom mixed Iris Mist (DBC50693 Iris Poly), is this correct, or is this a lacquer paint? http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif http://kurtsplates.homestead.com/files/goathed.jpg http://www.dannys65gto.com http://kurtspontiac.homestead.com/dannys65gto.html [This message was edited by Goathead on October 14, 2003 at 10:43 AM.] [This message was edited by Goathead on October 14, 2003 at 10:53 AM.] |

I might be mistaken, but I think in HPP, they just did a article just on this color.
August maybe, I was laying by the pool reading it this summer. Maybe this will help. I think there is a Chebby color that crosses over also. Rare color. |

Yes, they did, but I think that was the code for laquer, I want a base/clearcoat version...thanks http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif http://kurtsplates.homestead.com/files/goathed.jpg http://www.dannys65gto.com http://kurtspontiac.homestead.com/dannys65gto.html |
Its the same code as the Urethane.

Deltron DBC is a base coat for a urethane system. Good luck on the match. I am currently doing full restorations on a red '71 Plymouth GTX and a two tone blue '56 DeSoto, and I am having a really tough time getting the PPG tech lab to formulate a good match on either one with DBC. I spent an hour at the local jobber today while he tinted away, and I am no closer.
The next job on my schedule is a 383 '71 Cuda convertible that is Lemon Twist Yellow, and I'm gonna use Dupont. |
For some reason, my body man does not like PPG.. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif
May have to change something ... http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_frown.gif http://kurtsplates.homestead.com/files/goathed.jpg http://www.dannys65gto.com http://kurtspontiac.homestead.com/dannys65gto.html |
Well every painter has his favorite and your painter's is obviously not PPG. Martin Senour has quite a few old formula conversions, I can look it up and see if they convert Iris Mist. irgoatmike
|
Well, Martin Senour converts the Iris Mist to a modern Tec Base formula # 44084 and as an important side note, there is a disclaimer that states "Approximate Basecoat match to Original Finish-May require tinting". I hope this gives you another option at least. Good Luck! irgoatmike
