So, yes, it is for a 1966 GTO.

Never installed one myself, but there's a pro hotrod shop here in San Antonio, a licensed installer for Vintage Air, who charges $900 for a base, no-frills no-custom-work install and says it takes about 7 to 10 working days to do, for what it's worth. On top of the cost of the kit, of course.

I'm also thinking about putting in a Vintage Air unit but I'm going to be customizing the interior so I'll probably build a custom dash unit like you see on the 30's to 50's hot rods.

After paying $1700 for a professionally installed GEN II Super Cooler, I think they wouldn't be THAT hard to install except for fabricating the compressor mount. And don't even think about using a stock mount. It would need so much modification it would be easier to start from scratch. Otherwise if you can do wiring and work under the dash confidently it should be doable.
