I need to replace the alternator on my 64. I happen to have an alternator on the shelf, but don't know how to tell if it is internally regulated, or externally regulated. I know it is not a one wire, but how do I tell how it is regulated? Thanks.

Go to www.madelectrical.com, tech articles, 10SI and 12SI alternators. They've got some good pix showing the these alternators, which are internally regulated.

position of the prongs where the field wiring goes, off the back, external, off the top, internal.
