Have a 68 Firebird and was wondering if the battery in the firebirds were located on the pasenger side of the engine compartment. Reason being Im also having a problem with running the cable from the battery to the starter. Since I have headers its hard keeping the wire away from the header, is there some way to insulate it or protect it from the headers or how is it suppose to be run. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif

Most of the cables would go down a tube between cylender 5-7 or went down a tube at the back of the block. Since you have headers you could buy a longer cable and run it down the pan rail. some of the newer birds did that and it worked OK. You just have to play with it and make it fit what you want to do. Since the car isn't stock, ie., headers, your locations are limitless. Have fun!

The batterys were mounted on the passanger side and the battery cable runs under the oil pan over to the battery. It,s a long cable but that the way Pontiac did it. The starter wires come up the drivers side head and are protected by a medal tube. GTO's use the tube that comes between the head and exhaust manifolds.
