Hello. I just got off a long term of unemployment and am on extreamly low funds. I need a drag link for my 67 GTO. I thought the front ends of the Chevelle and Tempest, were the same but they list a more expensive center link for the 66-67 Tempest[only] then the 66-67 Chevelle. Is it just a diameter difference? If so, I am gentle to my old Goat, can I use the Chevelle link? Thanks for any info, Karl.

I was in the same kind of situation myself about 5 years ago, and my '67 was my daily transportation at the time. I did some checking and found that there is only a very minor difference in the '68 centerlink. I have had a '68 centerlink on my car since - they are much cheaper for some stupid reason. It put my steering wheel off center and I just had to pull the wheel and re-center it. Keep in mind it's been 5 years since I did this, but I think the only difference was where the pitman arm attaches was moved just a little. The alignment shop had no problem when I took it in for aligment after replacing the centerlink. I went through the front end rebuild on my 67 about the same time Lee did.

I would think the important measurements would be from hole to hole and the relative position of the attachment to the Pitman arm. I'd compare yours to the one you get. If its close I am sure you can get it all aligned as Lee said, irregardless of the diameter..

When I did mine I ordered the $100.00+ http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif '67 link for a Tempest/GTO. When I got it it didn't have the same contours as my original. I also had trouble finding the same exact diameter, zerk placement etc, Tie Rods. I ended up buying the Chevelle Tie Rods (at least that's what they were listed as) and they fit fine, The GTO rods listed kept coming out of the back with a diameter that was smaller then mine. This was at Napa and others.

As to the Link, The new one which in fact was thicker, doesn't clear my pan by more then 1/8 inch. My original had a deeper bend in it. So I was kinda bummed but it doesn't seem to matter..
I think in general I found that parts that were listed for Chevelles were thicker in diameter.

Thanks for the info. Basically, as I understand this, the 1968-72 is interchangable with minor adjustments and the 1964-67 Chevelle version seems to be slightly thicker? Thanks again, Karl.
