I found a excellent set of American Racing wheels (17X9.5, 5.5" backspace). I know 9.5" wheels will fit on the back. Has anyone installed 9.5" wide wheels on the front of a early 2nd gen TA? It is a power steering car. What was the impact of 17 x 9.5 wheels on the ride and handling?
Thanks, |

sombody please answer him i was going to ask the same question. ar say they will but if you mount a tire they're sold

I'm pretty sure there will probably be some rubbing on the front sway bar with a rim that wide. Some people have rubbing problems when turning on 8" rims with bigger tires, especially when at full lock. But I'm not sure to what extent the rubbing will be as I haven't heard of anyone running anything bigger than 9" wide in the front.(They had some slight rubbing problems)

Brock, Do you plan on running any sort of traction device / Bars ? BE sure to have them mounted before checking for clearence.
I used to run Cragar 17 x 9 with 4.5" BS , yoko 275/40/17 tires. This sidwall would slightly rub the lakewood traction bar mount when cornering. So if you are running a 9.5 rim w 5.5 BS ,.......you May run into issues. |
Nope - no bars. It sounds like 17 x 8" w/4" backspace is the way to go. I'm going to pass on the AR wheels.

I'm running them on my ta. seem to fit just fine.

Are you running the 9.5" wide wheels? How is the handling and steering? What size tires?
