I need a single action spring compressor and I don't really wanna spend the $245+ Snap-Off and Mac is asking since I'll most likely be using it just once on my 70....

I've never needed one before because the majority of the spring work I do can be handled right on the lift with a big spring bar, but since the subframe on my T/A is already out, I have no choice but to get one http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_frown.gif

Where can I get a decent one (that won't break easily) for under $100 shipped http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif

check out ebay and see if you can't find a snap on or otc unit for sale.

this is one tool that i wouldn't co cheap on. i've had a cheap unit break and "exciting" doesn't cover the experience.

I bought mine at the local parts house for $45. Nicer than than the Harbor Freight piece. Has no markings on it at all as to mfg location. Probably Ghana or Liberia or ....? Worked well.

Go to your local automotive supplier; Napa, Autozone, Pep Boys, Advanced auto and see if they have a tool rental. Usually you can get these free of charge, less a deposit. Just an idea.

I bought one online at Northern Autoparts for I think around $30. It came in a nice plastic box and is nearly the same to those I have seen at NAPA for $80.

I originally bought the Harbor freight tool, began to use it, and stopped. The threads seem to be too big and compress too quickly.

I now have the Eastwood unit MADE IN USA which I feel much better using. Works great!

Right, DO NOT buy the one from Harbor Freight. Many people have posted bad experiences here. I purchased the one from Eastwood. It's well priced and high quality.

For $28 bucks, I figure I can't go wrong...

Just hope it lasts long enough to remove and install one set of springs...

Watch the welds on it! Mine snapped one of the welds while I was trying to pull my front end apart. It shifted and I couldn't remove the compressor, so I had to take it to a friends house whom had a cut off wheel and we cut the coils in three sections so I couls remove the broken part and re-weld it.
