When I crank the window on my 1968 Firebird all the way up, it sits about 2 inches from the top. How do I adjust the window/assy so it sits at the top???

There are adjustable stops inside the door assy, two inches is a lot, tho... perhgaps there is a mechanical binding problem inside the door. You will have to take the inside door panel off in any case.

THanks dude, where, exactly are these stops? I have the panel off, have tried loosening and moving everything in there to no avail, can't seem to find a diagram for the window mechanism in all my manuals.

There is one at the front that you can see through the 1st and 2nd "holes" at the top front of the inner door. At the back is an adjustment for travel which can be seen through the top rear "hole". Just operate the window crank from bottom to top and you'll see them.

thanks, after further inv. seems the gear that brings the window up has slipped up a few teeth. is there any way to disengage the gear from the crahnk so I can re-align the gear so the window reaches the top at the end of the gear travel?
