I ran in true street last weekend at maple grove at the PRO series event. I was the hottest day and the most humid day I have ever raced on. You have to run a 30 mile cruise and then come back to the pits and you have a 30 minute cool down period and cannot open the hood at any time. You can change tires and add gas or nitrous bottle or fill your intercooler with ice, but after you enter the staging lanes you cannot do anything to the car but lower tire pressure. You have to make 3 back to back to back passes and then they average your 3 times. We ran 3 passes which were 7 to 8 minutes between each pass. It was so hot in the car I almost passed out. The car did get up to 210 on the last run. There were 22 cars in the field.
I played with nitrous alittle but couldnt hit it off the line because it wasnt hooking good at all. The 1st run I screwed up and didnt hit the bottle til 3rd gear and ran a really ****ty 10.81 at 131.00. The second run I hit it in the middle of 1st gear and ran a 10.19 at 134.83.Which is my best run to date and was very happy considering the conditions. My last run was the same as the first 10.81 at 130.90.
I finished 7th out of 22 cars. The faster car averaged a 9.22, which was awesome in those conditons.
I cant wait to get to my home track and run in good weather so I can get my 9 sec time slip!!!!!!! It should go 9.80's on a good pass.
They are having this at maplegrove and atco next year so Im hoping some of the other racers from this site will go next year. We had a great time and you guys would too.

Great times.A guy from my neck of the woods ran at that event also.He has a pink malibu that has gone 8.90s.I dont know his last name, but I think his first name is Paul. His engine builder posted on a local site;saying he went 9teens or something around there.God bless you guys for dealing with that heat!

Jeff Kinsler 09-04-2004 07:13 PM

Yes, his name is Paul. He won KING STREET, which is the fastest car of the 22.. He has a real clean and fast malibu.

Soo..... this means that you will be going for the 10 second index next year right.
It sure is fun runing in True Street.
Hopefully I can make a run at the 14 second index next year.

Jeff Kinsler 09-05-2004 07:48 AM

72Street Bird, Yes it is fun. Im sure I will be going for the 10 sec index next year unless I get a full cage and different intake then maybe I can go for King Street, but if paul is their then I still wouldnt have a chance. Maybe we will see you at one of the PRO events.

72 Street Bird 09-05-2004 03:12 PM

The only PRO event i go to is at Cordova Ill.
Tracks only half an hour from my house. So I make the same cruise to get there as in the True Street competition.
