I have a GMPP GEN V 454, I've been getting conflicting information as to what will fit from a Mark IV block, my main question is will mark IV heads swap? I've been told both yes and no on this one. Also how strong are these steel cranks and the dimple rods?

I had a Gen IV 454 & the Gen V heads will bolt on but There is a steam passage that has to be drilled into the block for it to work. So it will have to be sent out to a machine shop.
The coolant passages on the decks of Gen V blocks are larger & of a different shape than those used in Mark IVs. This prevents installing production Mark Iv heads without a conversion kit. Some aftermarket heads can be used on either Mark IV or GenV blocks.

Ok, that explains it, what all is involved in putting production mark IV heads on a GEN V? I can pick up some IV heads cheap and i'm thinking about throwing together a cheap nitrous motor. http://pysales.com/images/evil.gif

If it was me I would just get a set of Gen V heads.Or see if you can get a conversion kit From your chevy dealed so you can run the MarkIV heads. Or buy a set of aftermarket heads. Thats all you can do.
